~Sin*ful~ ::: shall we dance :::

I met a man the other night
Who put me at my ease.
His smiling manners did delight;
His air did greatly please.

I waited for the band to start
And hoped he’d take a chance.
I tried to slow my beating heart.
Would he ask me to dance?

He smiled with an apology
And said he had no grace,
And if he tried to dance with me
He’d end up on his face.

Or worse, he said, he might hurt me
By tromping on my toes,
And he was sure I would agree
We mustn’t damage those.

I said I was but half afraid
His clumsy feet to feel.
My left leg is as I was made;
The right is built from steel.

And so we danced and felt complete,
A couple not quite deft;
For though he danced with two left feet,
I danced with one foot left.
